A paper vase? No way!

Monday, April 27, 2009

I was out shopping the other day and made a trip to my local bookstore. Like always, I headed straight for the card section for some store inspiration. However, something caught my eye along the way - a paper vase! It was beyond awesome and such a new idea for me. What can I say, I’m known for falling under a rock once in a while.

Sadly, I can’t show you the actual product as there was NO branding on it - tut tut! But, it somewhat looked like this only taller. :)

Of course, these paper home accessories are all over Etsy too. Here are some of my favorites.

Understandably, being a paper addict, I am now obsessed with these inventive creations. As one to jump in at the deep end, I had to go on a hunt to find a tutorial to make my own. Check out this tutorial from Patricia over at A Little Hut - Recycle Project No. 7 - Magazine Bowl.

Guess what I’m doing this weekend?

What a great way to use up all those magazines that are collecting dust in your home. Come on, you know you have a stack just like me. Get creative!

Design Eleven

I wanted to tell you about this awesome site where you can download photoshop templates. If you're looking to print your own holiday cards this year this is a great resource. You can download any template on the site for only $6.00 and then insert your own photos.

Janice is really talented and I'm sure as the holiday approaches she'll be adding some great templates to the site.

Richard Sweeney's Paper Sculptures

Wednesday, October 24, 2007

I wish I could make stuff out of paper like this. My house would be filled! These paper sculptures by Richard Sweeney are just amazing! I love when I find stuff like this on the web, it's so beautiful and made out of such a simple item.

The last image is from an installation at the DKNY flagship store in London.

Wallpaper

Wednesday, December 20, 2006

When I moved into the house I am currently living in we removed layers and layers of wallpaper from the walls. I've always despised wallpaper and this made me hate the stuff even more. The ugly pastel floral patterns were never my thing. Why would anyone want this stuff on their walls. It just never made sense.

Paper + Walls = Dumb Idea.

Well recently my thoughts on wallpaper have changed dramatically. The designs I am seeing online are stunning. I love some of these prints.

Since I am in the process of moving right now, I'm seriously looking into purchasing some cool wallpaper. I'm even thinking of doing every wall in the house! (ok, not really) But I would like to attempt to wallpaper one room. Maybe either the office or the downstairs half bath. I plan on picking out the wallpaper and handing over the work to my mom. She's a good wallpaperer!

Eventually I'd like to sell wallpaper on www.papershopink.com. I'm curious if others are changing their views on wallpaper as I have. Are people actually buying these cool designs online? Are the people making these beautiful wallpapers actually selling them well? I'm curious to find out.
